GZIP Compression

Sunday, 23 March 2008

It is important for a website to have GZIP compression enabled. It is able to make your pages smaller up to 7 times (!). The GZIP compression is an Apache server's feature.

Our professionals are experienced with configuring Apache for serving compressed pages. Many experienced webmasters are not aware, that the GZIP compressed pages don't do it right in IE, due to its numerous bugs. Thus, the IE browser should be 'opt-out' from compression.

By enabling compression on your server, not only you will make your website faster (the pages are smaller), but also you save bandwidth on your server!
